Business in the Community exists to build healthy communities with successful businesses at their heart. Since 2001, Business in the Community has been working with its member businesses to make employment more accessible for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Building on this expertise, the charity is developing a new programme of work focused on slavery survivors.
Survivors of modern slavery face huge challenges integrating into UK society. A widely recognised cliff-edge in support can leave many vulnerable to homelessness and further exploitation. This challenge requires a multi-agency response, and employment is a crucial part of the picture.
With funding from the John Lewis Foundation, Business in the Community will work with frontline organisations and engage companies in its membership to deliver employability activities which improve the integration prospects for slavery survivors in the UK.
