Speakup Self Advocacy

Speakup Self Advocacy's exciting new project Learn the Job on the Job is funded by a grant of  £16,000 from the John Lewis Foundation. The project will change people's perceptions of individuals with learning difficulties, making a significant difference to how they think and behave.

Sessional workers, themselves with learning disabilites and autism, will support others like them in 6 month long work placements, facilitating applied skills transfer.  Barriers to working will be identified and managed, allowing the trainees to develop personally and professionally.

At the end of each six month period Speakup will support the trainees into work within the community, or enable them to develop micro enterprises.
