With the support of John Lewis Foundation, this project is working to enhance the safety of female garment workers in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Together we're enabling women to challenge violence against them in public places, and demand improvements to public services that will address their needs.
The activities undertaken as a result of the John Lewis Foundation donation to ActionAid in 2016, are part of the wider 'Safe Cities for Women' initiative. This is a powerful movement galvanising action to improve safety, mobility and access to public services for women and girls living in poverty in 10 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe.
In Cambodia, over the past year, ActionAid has continued to raise awareness and support for women’s rights by challenging violence against women, improving safety in public spaces and ensuring public services consider the needs and vulnerabilities of women.
